The commander of the land forces, General Montgomery, was every inch the Englishman, the supreme commander, General Eisenhower, an American. The evening helped cement the Great Alliance between the two men and their countries. However, Soon after the June 6th invasion began, the relationship between Eisenhower and Montgomery began to strain. As Allied soldiers struggled to break the German line, the casualty list lengthened. This is the story of how two very different men and the Army's they lead struggled to defeat the Germans. In the summer of 1944 the Los Angeles Dodgers started in Brooklyn, New York, in 18 93 the name Brooklyn Dodgers evolved from their earlier name, the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers. Brooklyn residents were called trolley Dodgers because of the many trolley cars they had tow avoid to safely cross the streets. Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers name was officially shortened to Brooklyn Dodgers in 1930 to their final name. Change would come in 1958 when the Brooklyn Dodgers would become the Los Angeles Dodgers, making for some very unhappy Brooklyn fans.
