Voices Will Host Voice Over Demonstration Booth at SLOME 2011

London, ON | May 09, 2011

Voices will be setting up an interactive display booth at the Skills London Oxford Middlesex Elgin (SLOME) event for London, ON area students.

SLOME is presented by the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board on Wednesday May 11 from 8:00am – 3:30pm at the Western Fairgrounds, Agriplex Building.

Visitors to the Voices booth will have the opportunity to test-drive what it’s like to be a voice actor by participating in a live recording of their voice using family friendly scripts. Students will get to hear a play-back of what they sound like and receive some performance tips. A listing of local coaching resources will be available upon request should students wish to explore the fascinating world of voice overs even further.

Students can also view a PowerPoint presentation complete with interesting, yet little-known facts about the voiceover industry. There will be demonstrations for vocal warm-ups and visitors will learn how and why it’s important to take care of the voice.

Voices will also be seeking out partners for future internships at the company while at SLOME. “Voices is an interesting, fun, forward-thinking company with a lot to offer students looking to learn about new and innovative career options. As a student, navigating the waters of what to do with the rest of your life can be really overwhelming,” says Jessica Campbell, the company’s HR Manager.

Ms. Campbell adds, “Voices hopes to provide opportunities in business, web development, marketing and support services that would be suitable for co-op and internship students in high school and post secondary school. I’m sure that SLOME will put us in touch with several students as well as teachers and faculty that may be interested in working with us.”
